This article highlights the significant gap between gender lens investing’s primary modes of analysis and lessons from scholars. If gender lens investing is to fulfill these goals – empowerment of marginalized populations as well as better financial and societal outcomes – its underlying analysis needs to capture, as closely as possible, how gender operates in the world.
